Anti-manipulation Policy

Any disruptive trading or manipulation of the XMT Gozo exchange is prohibited. Orders placed on XMT Gozo for the purpose of market manipulation, generating unnecessary volatility or creating a condition in which prices do not or will not reflect fair market values are prohibited. XMT Gozo has automated IT systems in place place which continuously monitor and report suspicious orders, as well as transactions, that might amount to market abuse. A dedicated Risk Officer reviews the reports and monitors the systems.

Market manipulation shall comprise the following activities:

  1. entering into a transaction, placing an order to trade or any other behaviour:
    1. which gives, or is likely to give, false or misleading signals as to the supply of, demand for, or price of, a virtual financial asset (VFA), a related derivative contract or
    2. which secures, or is likely to secure, the price of one or several VFAs, or a related derivative contract at an abnormal or artificial level;
  2. entering into a transaction, placing an order to trade or any other activity or behaviour which affects, or is likely to affect, the price of one or several VFAs, a related derivative contract, which employs a fictitious device or any other form of deception or contrivance;
  3. disseminating information through the media, including the Internet, or by any other means, which gives, or is likely to give, false or misleading signals as to the supply of, demand for, or price of a VFA, a related derivative contract or secures, or is likely to secure, the price of one or several VFAs, a related derivative contract at an abnormal or artificial level, including the dissemination of rumours, where the person who made the dissemination knew, or ought to have known, that the information was false or misleading;
